Bowditch
Rail Pty Ltd "The New South Wales PSM" has made a firm financial
commitment towards improving work practices within the RIC by researching,
developing
and
where
necessary, importing purpose-built machines. To date as " The New South
Wales PSM " Bowditch Rail has investigated, invested and imported five
purpose built excavators two
of which are Hi Railed, and all five excavators come complete with Tie
tamper,Sleeper grab and a full range of buckets. They are currently
being used within the New South Wales Metropolitan

| 3060
- The first Komatsu PC45 complete with tie tamper in Australia - is pictured
here with Geoffrey on it's first job at Minimbah near Singleton. This machine
arrived after 18 months of intense research by Geoffrey Bowditch, travelling
worldwide to find the best machine to meet the Australian needs. |
 |
After
many meetings and negotiations with Komatsu Australia, it was agreed
to import the machine entirely at the risk of Bowditch & Partners
Earthmoving Pty Ltd, as Komatsu did not want to supply a one of machine
in the country. The excavator was finally imported from Padova Italy,
and the tie tamper from Japan. After seeing and trialing different
after market tampers made here in Australia, this machine still remains
the preferred method of spot tamping. |

3070
- After the spectacular success of 3060, the next mini digger arrived
in June 2001 at our workshop ready to be fitted out before going
to work with a Newcastle crew. This machine is currently being used
in the multiple roles of: re-sleepering (with sleeper grab attachment),
spot tamping, (with Komatsu Tie Tamper), drainage and mini-reconditionings.
The multi-purpose nature of these machines has made it a firm favourite
on the North West line with the maintenance crews on the Railways.
